Etihad Airways is the flag carrier of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The company was established as the national airline in July 2003 by a royal decree. Etihad Airways is based in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). "Etihad" (Arabic for "united" or "union") is the Arabic abbreviation for " United Arab Emirates". It operates services to the Middle East, North America, Europe, India, Far East, Oceania and Africa. Etihad Airways' main hub is Abu Dhabi International Airport. Etihad Airways currently flies to 43 destinations all over the world, and aims to fly to 70 destinations by year 2010. In 2007 Etihad Airways carried more than 4.6 million passengers and 2.8 million in 2006.
Etihad Crystal Cargo is Etihad's cargo division, which operats a fleet of three A300-600F cargo planes. It started operations in September 2004. Etihad Crystal Cargo is experiencing growth and is expected to double its turnover of US$98.5 million in 2005 and over US$200 million in 2006.
