EL Al Israel Air Lines (TASE: ELAL) is Israel's largest airline and flag carrier. The company was established in 1948 as the national flag carrier airline. EL Al Israel Air Lines was ranked by IATA as one of the world's three most efficient air line carriers. Wide global coverage is provided by an international network of 77 ticket sales offices. The airline operates regular international passenger and cargo services between the hub at Ben Gurion International Airport and various destinations in Europe, North America, Africa, Asia and domestic connections to Eilat.
Since its first flight from Geneva to Tel Aviv in September 1948 the company has grown to serve 48 routes on four continents. As the former Israely national carrie, EL Al Israel Air Lines played an important role in Israel's rescue efforts, airlifting Jews from Yemen, Ethiopia, and other countries. The airline holds the world record for the most passengers on a commercial aircraft, a record set when refugees were transported from Ethiopia. The company is widely acknowledged as the world's most secure airline, after foiling many attempted hijackings and attacks through its security.
